The Glenbrook Apaches and Lady Apaches were in action at home Tuesday night, hosting district rival Tallulah Academy.

Tallulah came in expected to be the toughest team Glenbrook had seen, and the outcome of both games said as much.

The Apaches got a monumental, district win over the Trojans, 57-52.

This one was tight throughout, with Glenbrook trailing 31-30 at the half and 41-40 going to the fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter is where the Apaches made their move, outscoring the Trojans 17-11 down the stretch for the victory.

“I told the guys before the game, I usually don’t talk about must win games this early,” Glenbrook head coach Jeff Dalton said. “But this was a must win on our home floor. This win puts us in the middle of the district race.”

The Apaches got a stellar effort from several players, but Cade Conterez led the way with 18 points. Joseph Windham was in double figures for Glenbrook with 11 points, as were Da’maza Robinson and Lemoris Jackson Jr. with 10 points each. Senior Connor Chase came off the bench and provided the Apaches with seven points.

In the girls game, the Lady Apaches kept their undefeated season alive with a heart-pounding 44-41 victory over the Tallulah Lady Trojans.

“It was a very physical game,” Lady Apache head coach Rendi Dillard said. “Tallulah is a good team and they fought us hard all night.

Carsin Spurlock stepped up with 17 clutch points for the Lady Apaches and junior Olivia Dalton joined her in double figures with 10 points. Kate Marvin added eight points.

Jeff Dalton, who doubles as boys coach and Glenbrook’s AD, chimed in on the Lady Apaches’ dream season.

“I’m one proud AD,” Dalton said. “The girls keep getting better and I think they have the pieces to make a deep run in February.”

With the win, the Lady Apaches run their record to 16-0 and 3-0 in district.
