Bossier man arrested after refusing to leave residence

by Minden Press-Herald

A Bossier City man was arrested early Thursday after refusing to leave a residence following a domestic dispute, according to the Minden Police Department.

Officers responded to the 100 block of Hillside Lane at 4:40 AM on March 27 after receiving a report of an active disturbance. Upon arrival, officers heard a loud argument inside the apartment, with a male voice dominating the exchange.

After making contact with the occupants and conducting field interviews, officers determined that the resident had allowed her children’s father, Charles Mitchell, 35, to visit in recent days without issue. However, on the night of the incident, Mitchell became upset after witnessing a foot pursuit earlier in the evening. He asked Walker to pick him up, but she refused.

Mitchell later arrived at the residence in an agitated state, banged on the door, and was eventually let inside. Once inside, he began arguing with Walker and exhibiting aggressive behavior. Fearing for her safety, Walker contacted the police.

After officers separated those involved, Walker stated she no longer wanted Mitchell in her home. Officers asked Mitchell to leave for the night, and he initially agreed, gathering his belongings. However, when he requested officers to provide him a ride and they refused, he sat on the front steps and refused to leave.

Mitchell repeatedly shouted for officers to “take me to jail” while a group of bystanders gathered nearby. After multiple warnings and refusals to leave, officers arrested Mitchell without incident and transported him to the Minden Police Department. He was charged with one count of remaining after being forbidden.

All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
