The Piney Hills Louisiana Master Gardeners are set to host Buds & Blooms 2024, a gardening symposium on Saturday, February 24, at the First Methodist Church, 903 Broadway in Minden. The event kicks off with registration at 8:30 AM, followed by insightful lectures from 9 AM to noon.
This year’s distinguished lecturers include Chris Doffitt, biologist for Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, addressing “Landscaping for Wildlife”; Robin Bridges, retired Arkansas extension agent and former LSU extension agent, presenting on “Repel before Dipel (or No Chemical Gardening)”; and John Dillon, Minden High School teacher and founder/co-sponsor of the Minden High Nature Club, focusing on “Turning Your Yard into a Birding Yard.”
Tickets for this engaging gardening experience are priced at $15, with proceeds dedicated to supporting a 4-H youth gardening contest and 4-H scholarships. Attendees can also participate in a raffle, look forward to door prizes, and enjoy delectable food offerings.
