Coty Shane Worley, 18, of the 100 block of Tealwood Drive in Bossier City, was arrested Sunday, April 10, for seven counts of attempted theft of motor vehicles, three counts of simple burglary of a motor vehicle and one count of simple burglary of a business.
Minden Police Chief Steve Cropper says they received a call around 9:15 p.m. about a possible burglary in progress at Swain’s Auto Sales on Shreveport Road. Officer First Class Kenneth James and Lt. Seth Young arrived on scene and began looking for anyone still possibly at the scene. James located Worley hiding inside a Chevy truck, Cropper said.
Worley was taken into custody and upon arrival of Detective Lt. Keith King, officers began processing the scene and collecting evidence.
“They contacted the owner to go through his inventory, and he discovered a total of nine vehicles had been damaged in Worley’s attempt to steal them,” he said. “They were breaking the ignition out so they could start the car but were unsuccessful.”
Cropper says officers learned the office had been broken into, and items were taken from inside. Worley also reportedly took items from inside three of the vehicle.
Worley was transported to police headquarters and during questioning, he admitted to attempting to steal the vehicles and another truck at Ad Signs.
“He was not alone,” Cropper said. “At this time, the investigation is ongoing until we can locate and arrest the second suspect.”
Damages are still being calculated, the chief says, as the ignitions were torn out of nine vehicles and windows were broken.
Cropper says Worley was booked and transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.

After nine attempts and no success, the boy needs to find a less complicated crime.
A young amateur, he will receive an education in prison and come out with more knowledge on how to steal a car.
