The Minden Civitan Club recently celebrated the club’s 54th Aannual Clergy Appreciation Banquet at First United Methodist Church. Following the pledge of allegiance led by Ed LaBruyere and an invocation given by Bill Barnet, a supper was provided by Hugh Wood Catering to area clergy and their spouses.

Guest speaker Morris Busby expressed his appreciation to all clergy and their efforts to provide for the community. The program closed with the Civitan Creed led by Roger Grubbs and a closing benediction from Bill Ichter.
The Clergy Banquet is in the honor of four chaplains, who’s boat, the USS Dorchester, was torpedoed during World War II, that gave their life jackets to four soldiers so that they might live, giving away their only means of saving themselves in order to save others. Civitans and clergy honor these men during “Clergy Appreciation Week.”
