Louisiana Tech Men’s Basketball head coach Talvin Hester strengthened his roster on Friday with the signing of Kaden Cooper, a transfer from the University of Oklahoma.

Cooper, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound guard, spent his freshman year with the Sooners where he helped OU win 20 games, the most since the 2018-19 season.

“We are excited to welcome Kaden to Louisiana Tech,” said Hester.  “He is an explosive athlete that plays with a lot of energy and competes on both ends of the floor.  He adds more length to this recruiting class and we are excited to have him as a Bulldog!”

The Ada, Oklahoma native appeared in 15 games at OU, averaging 1.5 points and 0.9 rebounds per outing.  Some of his standout games included an eight-point effort versus Texas State and a season-high four rebounds against TCU.

Cooper was a consensus four-star prospect that attended Ada High School in his hometown before transferring to The Skill Factory in Woodstock, Georgia where he averaged 12.9 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game in 28 games in 2021-22.

Ranked as the 60th best high school player in the country by Rivals in 2023, he also competed on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit for Team Trae Young and averaged 10.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
