It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Digna Castro, a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, and friend.  Digna entered into rest peacefully, surrounded by love, on December 9th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Born on October 19th, 1945, Digna was a beacon of love, wisdom, and generosity to all who knew and loved her.  She is survived by her three siblings, Esther Castro, Chithim (Tina) Maldonado, and Gloria Castro, her four children, Diana Ortiz, Doris Margarita Ortiz (Crespo), Elizabeth Toledo (Laput), and Alberto Sanchez, and her twelve grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  They will all carry forward her lessons of compassion, resilience, and the importance of family.

Digna’s life was defined by her generosity, warmth, and her famously sharp mind.  Whether through her encouraging words, loving presence, or the countless moments she dedicated to her loved ones, she touched the lives of many.  Her strength in the face of life’s challenges was an inspiration to everyone around her.

Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of her siblings, children, grandchildren, and the abundant friends and family members who were fortunate to know her.  

Digna was mourned privately by her immediate family as she wished.  Friends and family are encouraged to honor her memory and find comfort by sharing the stories of her various adventures, life lessons, and the enduring bonds she created among those whom she knew and loved.
