Dorcheat SWCD celebrates Soil & Water Stewardship Week

by Minden Press-Herald

Since 1955, the National Association of Conservation Districts have acknowledged Soil and Water Stewardship Week.  This week is dedicated to promoting the conservation of natural resources.  April 28 – May 5, 2024 will be our 69th year of celebrating this very important week.

This year’s theme is “May the Forest Be With You, Always”.  This theme emphasizes the importance of soil and water conservation and our forests.

Forests play a large role in sustaining our planet, serving as sources of oxygen and carbon storage.  They function as protectors of soil and water resources, preventing erosion, purifying contaminants, and nurturing watersheds.

In today’s world with so many environmental challenges, resilient forests are indispensable in fostering a sustainable world.

Please take a moment to reflect on our world today and how important soil and water resources are in our everyday lives.
