Minden, LA – Dorwin Hicks was born July 5, 1944 in Berkeley, California and died April 19, 2021 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden, Louisiana from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 and funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Officiating will be Father Biju Kuriakose, CMI. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Minden, Louisiana under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
Dorwin was born in Berkeley, California and was raised there until the family moved to Farmington, Michigan in 1960. He graduated from Farmington High School in 1962 and went on to earn a BS in Business Administration at Michigan Tech in 1967. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army and served one year at An Khê in the central highlands of Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star. In 1976 Dorwin joined his father, Glen Hicks, in the founding and management of Clement Industries, a trailer manufacturing company in Minden, Louisiana. In 2008 he was confirmed into the Catholic church. He retired in 2007 and maintained residences in Minden and Lafayette, Louisiana.
Dorwin was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Phyllis Hicks, formerly of Minden.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Divina “Divi” Hicks; his son, Quincy Hicks and wife Jada, of Lafayette, Louisiana; brothers Greg Hicks and wife Renee of North Carolina, Mark Hicks and wife Marika of Maryland; nieces and nephews Allison Goodling, Jeffrey Glen Hicks, Alan Hicks, Stephanie Hicks and Vanessa Laird.
Pallbearers will be Qunicy Hicks, Greg Hicks, Mark Hicks, Jeff Hicks, Alan Hicks, and Byron Miller.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church.
