Doyline High’s Noah Spears earns honorable mention on all-state teams

by Amber McDown

Noah Spears, a standout athlete at Doyline High School, received an Honorable Mention on the 2024 Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s list of Class B All-State Baseball and Softball Teams. Spears, who will be entering his senior year this fall, has demonstrated remarkable talent on the field.

Spears’s scouting report highlights his prowess as a right-handed pitcher. He impressed scouts at the Preseason All American showcase, showing a solid presence on the mound. His fastball, now reaching speeds of up to 87 mph, is complemented by a breaking ball that sits at 70-71 mph with an 11/5 shape and early break. Additionally, his changeup, clocking in at 71-72 mph, features notable sinking action. Spears exhibits exceptional control, effectively attacking hitters and throwing strikes consistently. His mound presence and competitive spirit mark him as a promising prospect for higher levels of play.

This past week, Spears represented Doyline at the LBCA Underclassmen State Games played at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He joined underclassmen from all over the state but was the only representative from Webster Parish.

This spring, Spears played a pivotal role in leading the Doyline Panthers to the second round of the non-select Division V playoffs, securing a 6-0 victory over Ebarb.
