In honor of diabetes awareness month, Nephrologist Dr. Pallavi Shirsat will speak during the Lions Club luncheon Thursday.
Dr. Shirsat specializes in treating kidney patients of all ages with hypertension and kidney diseases.
Dr. Shirsat is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and a member of the American Society of Nephrology and National Kidney Foundation.
She completed her Medical School at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College in Mumbai, India and continued her education by completing her Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Internship and Residency at University Health in Shreveport.
She furthered her knowledge and expertise by completing a Nephrology Fellowship at University Health in Shreveport.
Dr. Shirsat grew up in Nasik, Maharashtra, India and enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Kunal, who is also an Internal Medicine Physician and Hospitalist in Bossier City and their son Aansh.
The Lions Club meets at noon on Thursday at the American Legion Hall on Pine Street.
