Drug charges sends Minden woman to jail

Savannah Danielle Shipp

A 23-year-old Minden woman who initially appeared to be unresponsive in her vehicle in a convenience store parking lot now resides in the parish lockup facing a drug charge, police say.

Minden Chief of Police Steve Cropper said his officers responded to the call shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday to a convenience store on Shreveport Road at Irwin Thompson Drive.

“According to the caller, a female was slumped over in a vehicle and was unresponsive,” Cropper said. “When officers Clint Smith, Shawn Jenkins and Chase Wimberly arrived, the suspect was standing outside her vehicle speaking with Sgt. Spencer Tippen.”

After she had been interviewed at the scene, Cropper said Savannah Danielle Shipp, who lives in the 600 block of Goodwill Street, gave officers permission to search her vehicle.

“During a search of the vehicle, officers found three small, round blue pills (Clonazepam) and a pill bottle that contained urine,” Cropper said.

Shipp has been charged with possession of CDS Sch. IV (Clonazepam) and falsification of a drug test, Cropper said. She was booked into Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
