Engineering Week a success at Webster Parish Libraries

by Amber McDown

Engineering Week at Webster Parish Libraries concluded successfully with an engaging activity led by Kaitlyn Taylor, the children’s coordinator at the main branch, on June 27. A room full of children participated in building “bridge” structures using gumdrops and toothpicks.

After completing their constructions, the young engineers tested the stability of their creations by loading books on top until the structures collapsed, learning about structural integrity and failure points in a hands-on manner.

Looking ahead, Mathematics Week, the final week of Discovery Camp, will commence on Monday, July 1. Fun and educational activities are planned across all Webster Parish Libraries branches.
