Her work ethic came from her father, her hospitality from her mother, and her faith from life’s experiences and God’s faithfulness throughout.
She came into this world on January 19, 1933 in Minden, Louisiana and entered eternal rest on April 30, 2021 at the age of 88. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Esther Lowe; four sisters, Melba Lowe, Lucy Jones, Darthie Wiltheis, and Lera Mae Dunn; one brother Grover Lowe; her husband of 63 years, C.D. Miller, Jr., their son Richard Dawson Miller; and one great grandson, Dexter Charles Owens. She is survived and will be missed by son Randy Miller (Judy) of Alexandria, daughter Sissy Franks (Doug) of Deville, and daughter Shari Taylor (Rodney) of Pine Bluff Arkansas. Faye loved her family and was blessed with six grandchildren, Erin Owens (Chris), Luke Miller (Kadie), Josh Miller, Rachel Totaro (Nick), Jared Taylor (Cammie), and Daniel Taylor. Her grandchildren blessed her with 10 of the greatest great grandchildren ever born; Grey, Jax, Adley and Hux Owens, Gabe and Natalie Miller, Nathan Totaro, Michael and Logan Taylor, and Penelope Taylor. In addition she is survived by a brother, A.D. Lowe (Betty), a sister Patsy Mancuso (Dom) as well as nieces and nephews that she loved greatly.
She was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church which later became North Acres Baptist Church, in Minden. She served her Lord and her church as a Sunday School Teacher, VBS teacher, WMU director, choir member, on various committees and put in her time and sweat in building the current church building. Her greatest contribution may have been in the work she did with the lives of the Youth of her church attending summer camp as a counselor with the youth for 27 years earning her the nickname “Grandmaw Randy”. She worked tirelessly with them in earning much of their money to go to camp and was responsible for the annual chicken and dressing fund raiser. Faye was the chief cook and tasted the dressing until it “tasted like my momma’s.”
She loved being a stay at home mother, and while her kids were still at home, her home was the place to gather in the neighborhood. In 1972 she reentered the work force and would remain employed as a property and casualty insurance agent until retiring from Miller, Woodward, Walker in 2009 at the age of 76.
She loved people and much like her mother, there was always room at her table and in her heart for a few more. It was Faye’s habit to feed the evangelists that would come to preach revivals at the church as well as a hobo or two who just needed a meal. She made a habit, when her father and years later her husband were in the Nursing Home, to bring food for them as well as the other patients and staff she had adopted into her family.
Faye felt her purpose was to brighten the day of those she met. She wrote poetry and would often find complete strangers to recite them to. They started out as strangers and they ended up as friends.
Her life will be celebrated by family and friends on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at North Acres Baptist Church in Minden. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M. and continue until time of the service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory. Pall bearers will be her grandsons Luke, Josh, Jared, Daniel and the two that were added by marriage, Chris and Nick. Honorary pall bearers will be Calvin Green and Randy Ward.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lexington House in Alexandria for their compassionate care during the last four months of her life.
