Two women were arrested following a reported fight that injured a woman.

Capt. Julie Harmon says around 2 p.m., Friday, May 27, police received a call that a fight involving a gun took place in the 700 block of Plum Street. Upon arrival, a woman that was bleeding from a laceration to her head flagged officers down.

“Lashonda Thornton was leaving her mother’s residence on George Street, and a car got behind her, tailgating her,” she said. “The car passed her, got in front of her and blocked her in.”

She says a woman got out of the car and began beating up Thornton while she was still inside her car.

“That’s when Thornton pulled an unloaded gun and used it to hit Tantaneshia Washington in the head,” she said. “Washington and Tatega Lewis took the gun from Thornton and struck her in the head with the gun, causing the laceration.”

Harmon says once officers talked to all the parties involved, Lewis, 22, and Washington, 44, both of the 700 block of Clay Street, were arrested for aggravated second-degree battery. Lewis was also arrested on the offense of aggravated assault with a firearm.
Harmon says there have been ongoing issues among the three.

Lewis and Washington were transported to police headquarters for booking and then transferred to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center.
