The Glenbrook Apaches and Lady Apaches traveled to Natchitoches Tuesday for a pair of games with the Louisiana School of Math, Science and the Arts.
The Apaches came out on top in their game, 47-43.
“We struggled to score against their zone and we had too many breakdowns defensively,” Apache head coach Jeff Dalton said. “We still found a way to win. It hasn’t been pretty so far this season but I feel like we are getting close. I really like this team and the chemistry we have. I’m excited about the rest of the season.”
Leading the Apaches in scoring was Cade Morgan with 21 points, 19 of them in the second half. Right behind him was Cade Conterez with 12 points on four three-pointers.
In the varsity girls’ game, the Lady Apaches lost a heartbreaker to the LSMSA girls, 44-43.
It was a tough loss for Lady Apache head coach Rendi Dillard, who says the girls still have some improving to do before they hit the bulk of their schedule.
“We struggled defensively tonight,” Dillard said. “Offensively, we didn’t do too bad. We moved the ball around well and had some good looks we just couldn’t finish. There are some things we need to work on before our next game Thursday.”
Junior Carsin Spurlock, led the team in scoring with 18 hard fought points and Olivia Dalton added 8 points.
