Grilling on Main 2022 (Gallery Included)

This weekend saw the return of one of Minden Mainstreet’s most anticipated annual events, Grilling on Main 2022. Competitors from all over set up along Main Street for a chance to show what magic they can work on a grill. 

Before getting into the winners of the grilling competitions, the event also featured a Cornhole Tournament, the winners of which were John Battaglia and Blake Alford in first place, Brian Smith and Jaxon Smith in second place, and Zach Mathews and Brandon Bullock in third place. 

There was also some time for the young prodigies to show off their grilling potential in the Lil’ Grillers Competition. First place in the Senior Division went to Holden Cooley.

First place in the Junior Division went to Cruz Bryce, with Layla Cooley coming in Second place. 

When it comes to the main grilling competitions, each year Minden Main Street shines a spotlight on our local grillers in the Local Finishers for each of the categories of chicken, ribs, and brisket. The Local Finishers Chicken winners were David Hamlin in first place, JD Cottle in second place, and Chris Plants in third place. 

The Local Finishers Ribs winners were Mark Griffith in first place, Zack Goodman in second place, and Slade Firth in third place. 

The Local Finishers Brisket winners were Zack Goodman in first place, David Hamlin in second place, and Donald Allums in third place. 

The winners of Grilling on Main for each of the categories are as follows:

For brisket, Donald Keen of Smoke Show BBQ took first place, Mike Steele of Pig and Cows Gone Wild took second place, and Brady Baudin of Sweet Bayou BBQ took third place. 

For ribs, Scotty Bryce of East Texas Smokers took first place, Lee Hickel of Redmule’s Bad Ass BBQ took second place, and Mark Griffith of Holmont took third place. 

For chicken, Bob Zannini of Galaxy BBQ took first place, Brady Baudin of Sweet Bayou BBQ took second place, and Gerry Vallee of Vallee AC Cold Smoke took third place.

Finally, the Overall Winners of Grilling on Main 2022 were, Scotty Bryce of East Texas Smokers in first place, Mike Steele of Pig and Cows Gone Wild in second place, and Donald Keen of Smoke Show BBQ in third place. 

There were a variety of competitions for the grillers to enter, so whether it was the heat from the weather, grill, or competition, there were multiple ways for competitors to work up a sweat this year!
