High school baseball: Glenbrook wins marathon game; Minden, Lakeside, North Webster post victories

Four parish teams were victorious Thursday.

The Glenbrook Apaches played the equivalent of two games in one against Loyola in Shreveport.

Glenbrook scored a run in the top of the 14th for a 4-3 victory. The game was part of the Northwood tournament.

Elsewhere, Minden defeated Cedar Creek 4-1 at Minden, Lakeside topped Many 4-1 in the first of a three-game series at Lakeside and North Webster defeated Downsville 13-1 at Downsville.

At Loyola, Glenbrook took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth. Loyola tied it in the bottom of the inning.

Neither team scored again until the 13th. Easton Sanders doubled and scored on Dawson Day’s two-out single. The Flyers tied it on a two-.out single by Kingston Adams.

Loyola sat down the first two Apaches in the bottom of the inning. But Eli Still drew a walk and Brayden Watkins followed with a single. Kleaton Davis hit a fly ball that resulted in an error. Still scored but Watkins was out trying to add to the total.

Watkins got the first two Flyers to ground out in the bottom of the inning. Camden Crossno then doubled and Glenbrook ace Sanders took the mound. He struck out the batter with a full count to end the marathon.

Glenbrook’s Sam Ricord did yeoman’s work on the mound. He pitched 10 innings, scattering six hits while striking out four and walking only three. He also had an RBI.

Watkins struck out four and allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings of relief.

Sanders and Day both went 2-for-4 and drew a pair of walks. Jackson Waller drew three walks.

Glenbrook (6-6) is scheduled to visit North DeSoto Friday at 4 p.m.

At Minden, the Crimson Tide scored all four runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Jaxon Smith pitched a two-hitter with 11 strikeouts and only two walks. He also went 2-for-3. Landyn Huddleston went 2-for-3 with a double.

Bray Winston’s two-RBI single with two outs gave Minden the 4-1 lead. 

Huddleston led off the fourth with his double. Hudson Brown, Smith and Rider Miller also had singles in the inning.

Minden (7-6), which has won four straight, is scheduled to host two games Friday against Montgomery at 4 and North Caddo at 6:30. The Cedar Creek and Friday’s games are part of the Northwood tournament.

At Lakeside, Eli Campbell pitched a complete game. He allowed five hits, struck out six and walked only one.

Jon Jon Dick went 3-for-3 with two doubles. Gage Williams had two RBI.

Lakeside improved to 5-7. The teams are scheduled to compete the series with a doubleheader Friday at Many starting at 4.

At Downsville, North Webster improved to 4-5 with the victory.
