The Lakeside Warriors claimed a share of the District 3-2A championship with a doubleheader sweep of Red River Friday at Lakeside.
The Warriors rallied for a dramatic 10-9 victory in the first game and took the second 12-2 in five innings.
Lakeside improved to 17-13 overall and finished 8-3 in district. Many, which swept a doubleheader against Winnfield Friday, also finished 8-3. Winnfield finished third at 7-4.
Lakeside won its series against Many two games to one on March 6 and 7.
Elsewhere, Minden edged North Webster 3-2 in Springhill.
At Lakeside, the Warriors scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to rally for the victory.
Noah Redding and Peyton Gray had back-to-back singles with one out. Jon Jon Dick’s two-out single got the Warriors within one. Gage Williams was intentionally walked to load the bases. Drake Chreene then hit a line drive that resulted in a two-run error and a Lakeside victory.
Redding went 3-for-3. Gray went 3-for-4. Eli Campbell went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Dick went 2-for-4.
Williams went the distance. He allowed three earned runs with five strikeouts and two walks.
The second game went five innings. Lakeside led 3-2 after three innings then scored four in the fourth and five in the fifth.
Campbell went 2-for-2 with two RBI. Brock Case had a hit and drew two walks. Dick, Williams and Redding had two RBI apiece.
Campbell allowed four hits, struck out five and walked two.
At North Webster, Minden broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the top of the sixth.
Landon Brewer drew a walk with one out. Jamall Carey, running for Brewer, advanced to second on a passed ball and scored on a single by Hudson Brown.
North Webster led off the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back singles. Brewer then took the mound and struck out the next three batters.
Minden’s Bray Winston went 2-for-2 with a triple. Starter Bryson Ranger went six innings
North Webster’s Tyler Brown and Aiden Woodall had two hits each (per Minden stats). Colby Dinkins had a double.
Brown went the distance. He scattered six hits.
Minden (15-12) is scheduled to visit Ouachita Parish Monday. North Webster (9-9), which defeated Union Parish 13-3 Thursday, is scheduled to host Logansport Monday.
