The Lakeside Warriors handed the Minden Crimson Tide their first loss Thursday night at Minden.
The Warriors won the first of a three -game series 7-2 in nine innings.
Elsewhere, Doyline picked up its first victory, defeating Union Parish 13-3 in six innings at Doyline, and North Webster improved to 7-0 with an 11-1 victory over Calvin in the Logansport tournament.
At Minden, the game went into extra innings tied at 2. Neither team scored in the first extra inning but Lakeside scored five in the top of the ninth.
The Warriors led off the inning with three straight singles two of which were bunts. They had five total in the frame and also took advantage of a passed ball and a couple of errors.
Jordan Isbell went 3-for-5. Peyton Gray went 2-for-4.
Gage Williams, Brock Case and Hunter Sutton singled in the ninth along with Isbell and Gray.
Case got the win in relief. He allowed three hits and no runs in 4 2/3 innings. Starter Jon Jon Dick scattered six hits in four innings.
Minden’s Parker Salas, Bryson Ranger and Hudson Brown all had two hits. Salas and Brody Bower had doubles.
Bower allowed just two hits in seven innings. He struck out 12 and walked one.
Lakeside improved to 6-1. Minden dropped to 5-1.
Game 2 is scheduled for Friday at Lakeside at 6 p.m.
At Doyline, Austin Arbaugh, Cayden Mingo and Noah Spears combined on a one-hitter with 14 strikeouts.
Dakota Stewart went 2-for-4 with a double. Spears hit a two-run home run and had three RBI.
Arbaugh and Kenneth Lee both doubled.
Doyline improved to 1-3.
