High school baseball: Lakeside edges Minden; Glenbrook splits with Calvary Baptist; North Webster gets win

Lakeside, Glenbrook and North Webster all won Saturday.

Lakeside pulled out a 9-8 victory over Minden at Lakeside in the final game of a three-game series.

Glenbrook lost the first game of a doubleheader at Calvary Baptist 7-3 then defeated the Cavaliers 6-2 in the second game at Calvary.

North Webster split two games in the Logansport tournament, falling to Jennings 10-7 and defeating Logansport 10-5.

At Lakeside, Minden scored five runs in the top of the seventh to take an 8-5 lead. But Lakeside answered with four in the bottom of the inning. The Warriors scored the final three with two outs. 

Gage Williams, who singled, scored on a passed ball to cut the Tide’s lead to 8-7. After Jake Glass was hit by a pitch, Noah Redding tied it with a single. Brock Case then won it with a single.

Case, Williams and Redding all had two hits. Eight Warriors had RBIs. Jon Jon Dick had a triple and Drake Chreene had a double.

Minden’s Keegan Pope went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Jacob Jefferson went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Bray Winston went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Landyn Huddleston had two hits. Rider Miller had a double.

Lakeside (3-5) visits Grace Christian Monday. Minden (3-4) visits Oak Grove.

At Calvary, Sam Ricord went the distance in the second game. He scattered eight hits, struck out seven and walked two.

Dawson Day went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Easton Sanders had two RBI and drew two walks. Seth Mangrum had a double. Jackson Waller drew two walks.

Kleaton Davis and Mangrum had doubles in the first game. Davis’ two-out double scored both runs in the top of the sixth.

Glenbrook (3-3) hosts Benton Wednesday at 6.

North Webster had 15 hits against Jennings. Cayden Bernard went 3-for-3. Preston Ingle, Aiden Woodall, Garritt Gillentine, Colby Dinkins and Chandler McKenzie all had two.

Tyler Brown went 4-for-4 with three RBI against Logansport. Dinkins went 3-for-4. Cayden Bernard went 3-for-5. Nathan Bernard went 2-for-4 with a double. Woodall and Preston Ingle had two hits each. Woodall went the distance for the win.

North Webster (2-2) hosts Castor Tuesday at 5.
