High school baseball: Minden evens series against Lakeside

The Minden Crimson Tide evened their series against Lakeside with a 2-0 victory Friday at Lakeside.

Elsewhere, Glenbrook fell to Claiborne Christian 10-4 in the Trey Altick Classic hosted by Ouachita Christian at the Sterlington Sports Complex.

At Lakeside, Minden’s Jaxon Smith went the distance. He gave up eight hits, all singles.

Lakeside loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the second but Smith induced a popup to end the threat.

Smith picked off a runner at second for the final out in the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth, Hudson Brown threw out a runner trying to steal second for the third out,

In the sixth, the Tide turned a double play with runners at first and second.

Brown and Parker Salas both went 2-for-3. Landyn Huddleston had a double.

Minden scored a run in the first on an error with two outs. The Tide added another in the sixth on two-out error.

Lakeside starter Hunter Sutton gave up four hits with four strikeouts and four walks.

Eli Cambell allowed one hit in 1/3 inning of relief.

Campbell and Gage Williams both went 2-for-3. 

Minden improved to 6-1. Lakeside dropped to 6-2.

Game 3 is Saturday at 2 p.m. at Minden,

At the Sterlington Sports Complex, Glenbrook’s Jackson Waller went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. Easton Sanders went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Glenbrook (1-5) plays Dunham at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ouachita Parish High School and Catholic-Pointe Coupee at 3 p.m.
