The Doyline Panthers won their fifth straight game Tuesday night, defeating New Living Word 57-53 in Ruston.
It was the Panthers’ second win in as many nights. Doyline defeated Lakeside 79-46 in the Warriors’ season opener Monday at Lakeside.
Sophomore Jay Patterson had two big games. He scored 35 against New Living Word and 36 against Lakeside.
Patterson scored 21 in the second half against New Living Word. He was 9-of-10 from the free throw line in the last two quarters and 13-of-16 in the game.
Patterson scored 23 in the first half against Lakeside. He was 12-of-16 from the line in the game.
Damarion McClendon scored 16 against New Living Word and 28 against Lakeside. He was 9-of-11 from the line in the first half against New Living Word.
McClendon hit five 3-pointers, including four in the second half, against Lakeside.
Doyline (8-1) hosts Grant Thursday night.
In a boys season opener Tuesday, North Webster fell to North Caddo 72-62 at home.
Three Knights scored in double figures. Freshman Markavious Johnson had 17, junior Dajuan Coleman 14 and senior Korey Jones 11.
North Webster trailed 29-20 at the half. The Knights hit four 3-pointers in third quarter and were within 45-43 going into the fourth. But the Titans scored 27 points in the final period.
Freshman Travion Sanders had six rebounds and junior KeMaurion Jefferson six.
North Webster faces Camden-Fairview in the first round of Lakeside’s Don Stahl Memorial Tournament Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
In a girls season openers Tuesday, Minden fell to Ruston 44-35 at Ruston and Lakeside defeated Haynesville 52-24 at home.
Minden plays Lincoln Prep at 3:45 Wednesday in the first round of the Lakeside tournament. Lakeside faces Ringgold Thursday at 5.
