The Minden Crimson Tide rallied past Booker T. Washington 52-51 in a District 1-4A thriller Friday night at BTW.
Minden trailed 50-44 with 23 seconds left. Cameron Parker hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit in half.
The Tide forced a turnover and scored to make it a one-point game. The Lions made one of two free throws go up 51-49 with 11 seconds left.
Maurice Rabb made a layup and was fouled. He converted the three-point play to give Minden the 52-51 lead. BTW then missed a shot at the buzzer.
The final score was only the second time Minden led in the game. The first time was at 4-2.
Rabb and Darnell Morris led the Tide with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
BTW got off to a hot start and led 20-13 after a quarter. Both teams cooled off in the second and the Lions led 26-19 at the half.
BTW maintained the seven-point lead after three quarters. But the Tide outscored the Lions 20-12 in the fourth.
Colossian Mason-Jones led BTW with 20 points. Rodrieon Dillard had 12.
Minden improved to 12-7 overall and 2-2 in district. BTW dropped to 15-9 and 3-2.
In the girls game, the Lady Tiders dropped a hard-fought 61-58 decision to the Lady Lions.
Brooklyn Jefferson and Kierra Harrison led Minden with 18 points each.
Jefferson also had 14 rebounds, four assists and three blocks. Harrison had 13 rebounds.
Minden dropped to 12-10 overall and 3-2 in district. BTW improved to 11-14 and 3-2.
Minden hosts North DeSoto in boys and girls games Tuesday.
Elsewhere, the Doyline boys reached the 20-win mark with an 87-72 District 1-B road victory over Weston.
The Panthers (20-3, 3-1) will try to avenge their only district loss when they host Castor Tuesday. Castor won 71-63 on Jan. 26.
Doyline and Quitman are tied for the district lead. Castor is one game back.
The Lady Panthers fell to Weston 64-49.
The Lakeside girls defeated North Caddo 45-16 in the District 1-2A tournament Thursday.
The Glenbrook girls defeated Ringgold 54-34 Thursday in the District 1-1A tournament Thursday. The Lady Apaches lost to top seed Arcadia Friday.
North Webster fell to Union Parish 52-30 in a District 1-3A girls game.
