The Minden Crimson Tide suffered their first loss of the season Friday night, falling to defending District 1-4A champion North DeSoto 42-0 at Griffins Stadium in Stonewall.
Minden dropped to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in district. North DeSoto improved to 4-2 and 3-0.
In Week 5, the Griffins got past Booker T. Washington 20-14. So some may have thought they were ripe for the upset.
But North DeSoto proved it’s still very much the team to beat in 1-4A and maybe in non-select Division II at the expense of the Crimson Tide. The only team left on the Griffins’ schedule that could give them some trouble is Loyola, a team Minden defeated 28-13 last week, in Week 9.
North DeSoto jumped out to a quick 21-0 lead and led 42-0 at the half. With a running clock, the game was over before 9.
Minden got just five first downs, per stats kept for the KASO/KBEF radio/web broadcast. The Tide had just 37 total net yards to the Griffins’ 397.
North DeSoto junior quarterback Luke Delafield completed 13-of-17 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns. Miller Warren had five catches for 92 yards and two TDs. Kenny Thomas rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns.
Freshman Lucas Owens Jr. led the Tide with 39 yards on nine carries.
Minden visits Booker T. Washington Friday. The Lions (3-3, 1-2) lost to Northwood 46-14 Thursday night.
Carroll 41, North Webster 3: The Knights’ tough season continued with the loss in their District 1-3A opener at Baucum-Farrar Stadium.
North Webster fell to 1-5 overall with its third straight loss. Carroll improved to 3-3.
North Webster visits defending champion Sterlington Friday. The Panthers (3-3, 1-0) defeated Richwood 34-6 Friday night.
