High school girls basketball: Davis leads North Webster to first playoff win in school history

North Webster made school history by making the playoffs for the first time. 

Thursday night, the No. 16 seed Lady Knights made more history by defeating No. 17 St. Helena 49-38 in the first round of the non-select Division III playoffs in Springhill.

Elsewhere, No. 18 seed Minden fell to No. 15 Leesville 65-48 in a non-select Division II first-round game at Leesville.

In a select Division IV first-round game, No. 21 Glenbrook lost to No. 12 St. John 47-27 in Plaquemine.

At North Webster, Aniyah Davis had a double-double with 28 points and 17 rebounds. She also had eight blocks and four assists.

Bree Lyons had seven points and three rebounds. Amiyah White had six points and five rebounds.

Nortn Webster (12-8) visits No. 1 seed and defending state champion Rosepine in the second round. Rosepine (27-5) received a bye in the first round.

St. Helena closed its season 8-10.

At Leesville, Minden closed its first season under Head Coach Cindee Wright-Clark 13-12.

At St. John, Glenbrook closed its first season under Head Coach Valerie Ricord 4-13.
