High school softball: Glenbrook, Lakeside pull out victories in close games

The Glenbrook Lady Apaches and Lakeside Lady Warriors picked up victories Monday.

Glenbrook edged Converse 3-2 at Converse and Lakeside defeated Cedar Creek 7-5 in nine innings in Ruston.

At Converse, Glenbrook led Converse 3-0 after six innings then held off the Wildcats in the bottom of the seventh.

Rebecca Mosley pitched a one-hitter. She struck out 10 and walked two.

Chloe Gregg went 2-for-3. Gabi Brown went 2-for-4.

Colby Hollis drew two walks and had an RBI. Vivian Still had a hit and an RBI. Ellie Earnhardt had a hit.

Glenbrook (10-2) continues District 1-1A play Tuesday against Plain Dealing at home at 5.

At Cedar Creek, the game went into extra innings tied at two. Ella Wood hit a two-run home run to give Lakeside a 5-3 lead in the top of the eighth. But Cedar Creek scored two in the bottom of the inning.

McKenna Chreene led off the top of the ninth with a home run. Meredith Robinson and Emily Jones followed with singles. Robinson scored on a sacrifice fly by Teal Austin.

Cedar Creek led off the bottom of the inning with back-to-back singles. But Chreene, who pitched all nine innings, struck out the next batter then induced a popout and lineout to end the game.

Eight Lady Warriors combined for 11 hits. Chreene went 3-for-5 with a home run. Emily Jones went 2-for-5 with a double. Madalynn Squyres had two RBI.

Lakeside (10-2) continues District 3-2A play Tuesday at Many at 5:30.
