Minden senior Porter Neal closed his outstanding high school career with a runner-up finish in the Class 4A boys 400 at the LHSAA Outdoor Track and Field State Meet Saturday at LSU.
Neal ran a personal-record 49.47 seconds. Breaux Bridge’s Jaboryan John in 48.15 seconds.
Neal’s previous best was 49.83. His best this season was 50.69.
Minden senior Brayden Britton finished fifth in the 110 hurdles in 15.26. AJ Ellender’s Markus Thomas won in 14.86.
The top three finishers made the awards stand. Britton finished.16 seconds behind third-place finisher Braylon Calais of Cecelia.
Neal and Britton were both multi-sport athletes. They contributed to the success of Minden’s football team last fall.
