Karen’s Korner: Fall is here

by Minden Press-Herald

Karen’s Korner,

Fall is finally here. The beautiful leaves, the cooler mornings and evenings, football, bonfires, trick or treaters…the beginning of the holiday season. And it passes so quickly. Before you know it, Thanksgiving is here.

What a wonderful time of the year to see family and friends. But, many of our Seniors no longer have large families, and many friends have gone on before them. Holidays are always a bit difficult. That is why it is important for us to reach out to our neighbors, especially our Seniors. A telephone call, a card, a visit, or a holiday goody might be just the thing.

The Webster Parish Council on Aging has quite a few events coming up! It is always festive around here, and our decorations are something to behold.

We will have a Veteran’s Day Appreciation Day on November 8th, 2023. The Center will be closed on November 10th – in order to observe Veteran’s Day.

The Center will also be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23rd and 24th, to observe Thanksgiving.

We are already planning our Christmas event. It will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, beginning at 10:00 am. Tickets will be available by November 15th, Cost will be $2.00 per person. Reservations must be made by Wednesday, December, 13th, 2023. We have special entertainment, a visit from Santa, door prizes,  and all the trimmings.

There is so much to do this time of the year, and we welcome you to the Webster Parish Council on Aging. There is always something going on.  Get involved!
