Karen’s Korner,
I think I have mentioned before how I love to find and read uplifting quotes. In my search I have probably collected hundreds of them.
The reasons I do this is because they foster hope, often bring comfort, help us to see new possibilities, encourage us to appreciate life, and they help us to stay connected with others. And besides, they keep challenging me to live a better life.
I found a section the other day of Senior Adult quotes that are really good for the soul! So, I thought I would share some with you today.
Emily Dickinson, one of my favorite authors said, “We turn not older with years, but newer every day.”
Another quote along these lines was penned by Betty Friedan, one of the founding texts of modern feminism. She said that “Aging is not lost youth but a new stage of opportunity and strength!”
I love humorous quotes as well! Oliver Wendell Holmes had the right idea: “Old age is always fifteen years older than I am.”
One of my favorites is: “It’s important to have a twinkle in Your wrinkle,” (unknown.)
And of course, Betty White always said: “The older you get, the better you get…unless you are a banana!”
Oh well, quotes are timeless and priceless, but my very favorite quotes come from the Word of God.
“The steadfastness of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.”
Lamentations 3:22-23!
And finally, 2 Corinthians 4:16-18,
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen.”
What power, hope and timeless knowledge come through the Scriptures, and also gems of joy through meaningful quotes. They are there just for us. Read and enjoy!
