Karen’s Korner: Self respect

Karen’s Korner,

At an early age, my Grandma told me that I was to respect my family and friends, and those who were not as fortunate as I was, because the Bible said so!

She also taught me to respect myself. She said that God made me, and He never makes mistakes. That was enough for me. But it took me quite a while to learn about self-respect, self-esteem, and self-worth. There are many people today who still do not know how important these ideas are in our lives.

These ideas are closely related and are very essential for our overall well-being. They are foundational to our mental and emotional health, influencing how we perceive ourselves, interact with others, and navigate life’s challenges!

I was reading an article from “VERYwell mind,” that discusses self- improvement ideas. It was sharing quotes to encourage and help people understand themselves as it relates to these ideas.

These are some of the reasons why it’s important to have a healthy sense of self-worth and self-esteem, according to their researchers:

Healthier relationships…Less dependency… Greater resilience…

Increased motivation… Better decision-making… Greater adaptability…

More positivity…  Increased self-compassion…Improved mental health!

Psychology is ok. It has its place, but when the Word speaks…It says it all!

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

God’s Word said IT!

Grandma taught IT through His Spirit!

And I believe IT!
