KICKOFF: All four Webster high schools in action tonight

Football is officially back this weekend as the scrimmages and tune-ups are done and each of the Webster Parish high schools will hit the turf in pursuit of perfection tonight.

Minden heads to Parkway for an early road test against one of North Louisiana’s perennial powerhouse teams. The Crimson Tide handled Homer easily in the Pineland Jamboree, putting up 34 points while showing flashes of their impressive defense under head coach Spencer Heard.

Bobbie Britton is one of MPH’s “Players to Watch” this season and leads the Minden defense. Lieric Robinson will start at running back where he put up nearly 1,000  yards rushing last season.

Lakeside begins their season at Lincoln Prep tonight at 7 p.m. after pulling off an upset over Haynesville last week in the Pineland Jamboree.

The Warriors tout one of the top offenses in all of 2-A, led by quarterback Jordan Preuett, running back Jocquez Lott, and athlete Trey Sanders.

North Webster also begins the season on the road, this time at Haynesville.

The Knights return MPH All-Parish Player of the Year Scottie Johnson, but have a number of holes to fill on both sides of the ball if they want a repeat of last season’s success.

North Webster will seek revenge from last season’s 28-19 loss to Haynesville to open the year.

Glenbrook is already three weeks into the season and have already matched last season’s win total.

The Apaches play host to defending MAIS state champions St. Joseph tonight at 7 p.m.

St. Joseph has two D-1 commits on the team in Dillon Johnson (MS State) and Trey Benson (Oregon).
