Lakeside cross country takes double win at Aggie Invitational

The Warriors and Lady Warriors cross country teams competed in three events at the Aggie Invitational in Ruston last week. Team captain Logan Bailey led Lakeside to victory. He crossed the finish line with a time of 16:48.

Varsity runners Timothy Mansfield placed tenth with a time of 18:05 and Jairo Aguinaga came in fifteenth at 18:45. Ken Dubose finished 20th at 19:30 while Jace Pate clocked in at 20:30. Owen Smith rounded out the varsity runners with a time of 23:47. The cross country varsity boys team brought home second-place honors for Lakeside.

The Lady Warriors raced in the junior varsity competition. Christine Bray led the pack of over seventy runners in the two mile event. She comfortably finished first with a time of 14:23. Hannah Lacoste came in ninth place at 15:50. This is only the second year competing for both Bray and Lacoste.

The Warriors are welcoming new coach Eric Smith to the club. Junior varsity boys ran the two mile event, and Chelby Hinton earned himself a spot in the top ten. He ran a 15:22 which placed him in ninth. Mikey Stanaland finished at 18:34 in his first meet, earning him 13th place.

This weekend, the Warriors and Lady Warriors travel to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to run in the Foster Commagere Classic.
