Lakeside Warrior’s football season ends with a 34-16 loss to North Caddo Rebels

by Minden Press-Herald

SIBLEY – The Lakeside Warriors played their hearts out in an attempt to earn their first win of the season on senior night against the North Caddo Rebels, but came out on the losing end, 34-16.
With the loss, Lakeside (0-10) ends their season winless. The Warriors unfortunately lost a few players to transfers prior to the season, leaving them with a lack of experience in key positions, but Pesses had high praise for the Warriors who took the field Friday night.

“We were able to move the ball,” Pesses said. “We had a couple of penalties in the red zone that set us back. It took us a little while to get up to the game speed that they were playing at. They got up quick on us and we responded with a good drive right down the field, but everytime we would make mistakes at inopportune times.”

Lakeside trailed 21-0 at the half and were down 27-0 in the third quarter, when Frankie Chanler got the Warriors on the board with a touchdown run. The Warriors added a two-point conversion to make the score 27-8.

Both teams would add another score to make the final score 34-16.

Pesses shared some final thoughts on the season and his seniors after the loss.

“I told the guys a lot of people only want to look at what you’ve done in the win/loss column,” Pesses said. “I’ll choose to think about other things. I couldn’t ask for a better group of kids. The season flew by because I love this group. These seniors started their careers on a team with 18 players and finished on a team of 40. I think they leave a legacy of having helped build something.”
