BOSSIER CITY – The Lakeside Warrior wrestling team put four wrestlers on the podium at the state wrestling tournament at the CenturyLink Center over the weekend.
The outstanding showing came as a bit of a surprise with all of Lakeside’s team being freshman and sophomores.
Sophomore John Watson finished as state runner-up in the 132-pound division, D.J. Harvey finished fourth in the 285-pound division, Nathan Willis finished sixth in the 120-pound division and Noah Willis finished sixth in the 220-pound division.
“We’re super-pleased with this showing,” Lakeside wrestling coach Jared McGiver said. “We took eight wrestlers and put four on the podium. These guys go through the most taxing training of any high school athletes to get here. We’re a young program with young guys who are only going to get better.”
