LSP lieutenant arrested following off-duty DWI crash

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on July 18, 2024, the Louisiana State Police was informed that the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) was investigating a single-vehicle crash involving an off-duty Louisiana State Police Lieutenant on Interstate 10 near Perkins Road. 51-year-old Prentiss “Trey” Bellue was determined to be the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash, and displayed signs of impairment during the investigation.

As a result of the crash investigation, BRPD officers arrested Bellue and booked him accordingly for Driving While Intoxicated – 1st Offense. Bellue, who was off-duty and in his personal vehicle at the time of the crash, is currently assigned to the Louisiana State Police Crisis Response Section. Bellue has been employed with the Louisiana State Police since 1998.

Bellue has been placed on administrative leave. All law enforcement property will be recovered pending the conclusion of criminal and administrative investigations.
