SPRINGHILL — Community members with bags of dog food in hand flocked to North Webster High School’s cafeteria Saturday night to participate in the Lumberjack Rescue’s Bingo Night.
For $20, participants were able to play ten rounds of bingo. In addition, two bonus games were held for those who brought a case of bottled water or a bag of dog food.
The grand prize of the night was $500. Springhill resident Dianne Smith was the overall winner. However, she chose to donate the money back to the Rescue.
Event coordinators and volunteers thanked the crowd, title sponsor Piggly Wiggly, and the Krewe of Artemis.
In addition, coordinators also mentioned several other non-profit organizations throughout the night including the WHO of North Webster, the NWHS art dept., the Fuller Center, and more.
“Each organization serves a different function, and no one is more important than the other,” said event coordinator Michelle Benson.
“It’s important for us all to be involved in these community efforts, and although I may spread myself thin at times, at the end of the day it’s completely worth it.”
