Evelyn, or Mamaw, as she liked to be called grew up in Bradley, AR and later moved with her family to the Welcome community located in Lafayette county in southern Arkansas just over the state line from Springhill, LA.  She and her sister Betty opened a local diner dubbed “The Lumberjack” in Springhill, LA named after the local high school mascot, here she met the love of her life Huey Sr. who she married.  Later after being married for a few years, the family moved to Shreveport, LA in 1969 where she would ultimately be employed in the purchasing department of Western Electric.  Her husband would work there as well as an industrial mechanic and both would retire from there after a few company name changes, first to AT&T and then to Lucent Technologies.  Before Evelyn and Huey Sr., retired the family would go on to live in Grand Cane, LA for quite a few years.  Ultimately Mamaw (Evelyn) and Papaw (Huey Sr.) would move back home to Springhill, LA after retirement.  They were always active in their local church no matter where they lived.  The couple were active in performing gospel music for local retirement centers.  Their last two churches that they attended were Grand Cane Baptist Church in Grand Cane, LA and Calvary Baptist Church in Cullen, LA (near Springhill, LA). Mamaw often performed as a clown at the nursing homes during the gospel singings. The couple graduated from Liberty University in 2008 with a degree in Bible.

Evelyn’s final words to you would be: “Make sure you know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior so that I will see you in Heaven.”

Pallbearers will be Steve Reynolds, Scott Grayson, Brent Grayson, Willie Hammontree, Adrian Hammontree, and  Mike Watson. Alternate pallbearer will be Matt Redmond. Honorary pallbearer will be Elton Reynolds.
