Memorial Classic weekend a resounding success

The Pine Hills Memorial Classic golf tournament was played over the weekend, with a large field of competitors and casual golfers alike coming out to enjoy two, beautiful days on the course.

Morning rains disappeared just in time for the Saturday afternoon flight to play in pristine conditions and the sunshine continued Sunday.

At the conclusion of Saturday’s round of play, the Memorial Banquet was held in honor of John Benton and Dr. Phil Hendry. Family members of both were in attendance to receive plaques in recognition of what these two men meant to their Pine Hills peers and the service they put in, much of which on a volunteer basis.

Play wrapped up Sunday at approximately 5:30 in the Championship flight, with the team of Lance McGuire and Brian Grubbs taking first place.

The full list of winners in each flight will appear later this week in the Press-Herald.
