Minden Darlings start district with 17-6 victory over Union

All-Stars were in action Thursday night, including the beginning of the Dixie Darlings disrict tournament at the Minden Rec. Center. Here are the results from across the all-star spectrum.

Minden won it’s first game of the tournament over Union, led by Baleigh Haulcy with a home run and two singles. McKenna Chreene, Leigha Gilbert, Brooklyn Davis, Aaliyah Allen and Leyla Slaughter all had two singles, while Hadley Haynes Mackenzie McCoy, Syniah Rabb, Baylee Bonsall and Lindsey Ryan all finished with base hits for Minden.

Other winners on day one of the tournament were Ruston Americans over Springhill, Haughton over West Monroe No. 2 and West Monroe No. 1 over Benton.

The Minden 11u team demolished the Monroe All-Stars Thursday night in the championship game of the combined district tournament, led by Cooper Chase who doubled once and singled twice in a three-hit game. Dexter Smith blasted a home run for Minden, as did Jake Wilkins, followed by Maddox Mandino and Brandon Winston with a pair of singles each. Dayton Sims, Price Miller, CJ Watts and Bradley Dick all came up with base hits for Minden.
CJ Watts got the start on the mound and pitched two innings, striking out two batters. Jake Wilkins and Bradley Dick combined to finish off the final inning.

Minden wrapped up district as Champions of District 4, sealing a berth in the state tournament. Minden 11u will begin play at state on July 8.

Minden 9 All-Stars

The Minden 9 All-Stars saw their tournament run come to an end after a tough loss to Bossier.

The boys finished third place in district.
