Minden High School celebrates homecoming

by Will Phillips

Minden High’s Crimson Tide pride was at an all-time high this homecoming weekend. Students of today and alumni of years past gathered in the streets of downtown Minden for the annual Homecoming Parade. Citizens lined the streets as floats with cheerleaders, dancers, pageant winners, alumni classes, and others passed while tossing candy and other goodies.

“Every year we celebrate our alumni coming back to our beloved Minden High School. We welcomed home the classes of 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999, and 2009. Although much has changed over the past 50 years, one thing remains the same, we will always cherish deal old Minden High,” said Minden High School Principal Becky Wilson.

After the parade, the crowd moved over to Minden High for tailgating before the game. A pre-game ceremony took place during which each of the alumni classes that were present shared the story of their time at Minden High. Afterward, the Homecoming Court was presented.

During the Homecoming game itself, Minden High faced Booker T. Washington High School and won 17-6(see Sports Page 6).

The Homecoming Dance took place on Saturday, with the theme “Meet Me at the Fair.” The dance is sponsored by and decorated by Minden High School’s very own Student Council.
