ALEXANDRIA — The public is getting extra time to comment on a proposal for a company near Colfax to burn more than 2 million pounds of hazardous waste a year.
The public comment period had been set to expire at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. However, Department of Environmental Quality spokesman Greg Langley told The Town Talk that it has now been extended until 4:30 p.m. Feb. 29
DEQ has scheduled a Feb. 23 public hearing on the proposal by Clean Harbors Colfax LLC.
The company is seeking a permit modification so it can more than triple the amount of toxic waste that can be openly burned at its site about five miles northwest of Colfax.

PLEASE find a few minutes to write to the LADEQ regarding this permit! The comment deadline’s been extended already becasue of public backlash, any resident of/head-of-houselhold in Louisiana needs to be heard from on this! We have template/sample letters available. Message me on FB if you need assistance.
(Re-read the article’s last paragraph if you’re still unsure!)
