Peaches Porch in Springhill, a beloved breakfast and lunch café located in South Main Mall, will serve its final meal on November 17. Owner Gwen Cooper Greene, known for her community spirit and generosity, opened the café in June 2017, offering American comfort food and a welcoming atmosphere.
Throughout her time in business, Greene demonstrated a strong commitment to serving others. She provided free Thanksgiving meals to hundreds, often covering the cost herself, and honored veterans with free meals on Veterans Day. Greene also ensured no one went hungry, feeding those in need regardless of their ability to pay.

Even after the closure, Greene will continue giving back. With help from local organizations and volunteers, she will distribute free Thanksgiving plates on Saturday, November 23, from 11 AM to 1 PM. at the CAC Building on Church Street. Meals will be available for pick-up only, with one plate per person. Those wishing to assist are encouraged to contact Peaches Porch before its closing on November 17.
“As I prepare to close my café after seven wonderful years, I am overwhelmed by the relationships and memories created within this community,” Greene said. “I thank God for allowing me to connect and serve so many people during this time. Thanks to each and every one who supported me along this amazing journey. I love y’all!”
Gwen Greene’s dedication and warmth will be deeply missed by her patrons and the community, along with the home-cooked meals that made Peaches Porch a local favorite.
