Det. Keith King says the incident occurred a little after 2 a.m., Sunday, May 29, on Peach Street.

“When officers got there, they found a female who’d been shot in the hand,” King said.

“She said, ‘Leslie Williams did it.’”

King went on to say that Williams, 38, of the 600 block of Wood Street in Minden, showed up at the woman’s home after she called him.

“They got into a verbal disagreement, and his new girlfriend showed up and they got into a physical fight,” he said. “After the altercation was over, he pulled out a silver 9 mm pistol and tried to fire it at her, but it didn’t fire.”

When he got the gun working properly, King says he fired two shots at her, one going through her hand, and the other going through the door of the house, lodging into a dresser. He says 11 shots total were fired. Police collected 11 casings and one bullet at the scene, he said. Three of the shots were discovered in the side of the house.

He says the victim has text messages on her phone from the previous day, which show where Williams reportedly threatened to kill her.

“A witness stated that he said he was going to kill her while he was shooting at her,” he said. “He left in a 2010 silver Malibu belonging to his girlfriend, Crystal Harris. He was last known to be in the Haynesville area.”

Williams is approximately 5’4” and weighs 160 pounds. He of medium build, and King says he has a small tattoo on his right cheekbone.

A warrant for attempted second-degree murder has been obtained.

If anyone has information on Williams’ whereabouts, call the Minden Police Department at 371-4226.
