Memorial services celebrating the life of Rita J. Byrd will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Minden, Louisiana with Gary Sexton officiating.
Rita was born February 9, 1946 in Beebe, Arkansas and entered into rest November 23, 2019 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Rita was an EMT for 14 years with Bayou Ambulance Service and co-owner of Byrd’s Floor and More.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, W.L. Johnston, Gary Johnston, and Johnny Johnston, and sisters, Nina Lester, Barbara Maynard, Betty LaParrie, Pam Ray, and Peggy Ferell.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, John T. Byrd of Minden, daughter, Johnnia Newman and husband Monte of Minden, grandchildren James Colby Newman of Minden, and Jessica Murdock and husband Chris of Hawaii, and brother-in-law, Charles Byrd and wife Franca of Destin, Florida.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or donor’s choice.
