Seeds Women’s Center hosts annual fundraising banquet, nearing $60,000 goal

Seeds Women’s Center held its annual fundraising banquet at the Minden Civic Center on October 8, drawing a large crowd to support the growing pregnancy center.

Seeds Women’s Center offers a range of services including free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, parenting classes, adoption counseling, and reproductive health and loss counseling. The center has experienced a 165% increase in service demand since 2020, serving 535 individuals across 911 client visits, providing 597 pregnancy tests and 760 ultrasounds, enrolling 96 people in parenting classes, and graduating 9 fathers from the Navigating Fatherhood course.

The banquet raised $48,606, bringing the center closer to its $60,000 fundraising goal. “We had a great turnout and we thank all our sponsors, staff, volunteers, Pork and Fork, A Piece of Heaven Cakery, and our speakers for the opportunity to hear their amazing stories,” said Executive Director Amber Bradford.

On November 1, Seeds will close on a new, larger facility at 308 Pine Street, known as the Ward Building. Bradford noted that the new space will allow the center to better meet the community’s needs. “This building is twice the size of our little blue house,” she said. “With our center growing, we are facing challenges of renovating the building, covering higher utility costs, and stocking more supplies.”

Guest speakers Michele Smith and Rose Fenchel shared their powerful personal stories. The sisters, born just 11 months apart, revealed how they survived abortion attempts as infants. Both women spoke of healing, love, and forgiveness, recounting the struggles and secrets of their upbringing in a large, financially strapped family.

Donations to Seeds Women’s Center can be made at 402 Broadway Street in Minden, online at www.seedswomenscenter.com/donate, or via PayPal @seedswc. “Please help us not only meet our goal but surpass it for our renovations, to make it perfect as we continue serving and making a difference right here in our community,” Bradford urged.

The event marks another successful year for Seeds Women’s Center, as it continues to expand its services to those in need.
