On June 13, Shug’s ice cream shop held a fundraiser for the Minden Dixie Angels softball team. Members of the team worked scooping ice cream for a portion of the proceeds from the day. The Angels were able to raise $1,756.72 for their team thanks to all the community members who came out to support them by buying ice cream.
The state championship team members are Willow Still, Sadie Powell, Peyton Wood, Kynlee Garms, Eme Jernigan, Fallyn Hollingsworth, Aniston Igo, Montgomery Ingles, Marian Wimberly, Ellie Kate Perryman, Eastyn Pate, and Brooklyn Sunderland.
Minden will represent Louisiana in the World Series in Prince George, Virginia. The opening ceremony is scheduled for July 26.
“We are excited for the girls, and just wanted to do our part to help show them how proud Minden is of all their hard work! These girls worked just as hard to scoop this ice cream and earn this money as they’ve been working on the field to make a name for themselves!” said Mandi Hart, owner of Shug’s.
The funds will assist the team in covering expenses for their upcoming trip to the World Series. The event highlighted the strong community spirit in Minden, with residents eager to support local youth sports.
The Dixie Angels expressed their gratitude for the support and are looking forward to competing on the national stage.
