A Minden woman has been arrested after she reportedly admitted to stealing a 3-month-old dog.

Lillian E. Garland, 18, of the 100 block of Katie Lane, was arrested Sunday, Nov. 29, and charged with theft of animals. Bond was set at $3,500.

Webster Parish Sheriff’s Deputies Bobby Igo III and Wade Wells received a complaint from someone regarding the possibility of a stolen dog from a residence in Shongaloo. According to reports, the complainant described the dog as a 3-month-old boxer puppy and photographs of the animal were provided. The complainant then told deputies they were contacted by an unidentified person who told them the dog was located at the Katie Lane residence and there was possible drug activity there.

Igo III and Wells made contact with the homeowner and advised her of the complaint. She reportedly gave consent to search the home.

The deputies located the missing animal, reports indicate, identified by the photographs provided. Garland reportedly admitted to police she and two other suspects took the dog from the Shongaloo area.

600011501882While at the residence, Wells and Igo III arrested Justin Howard McCaleb, 21, of the 100 block of Katie Lane, on charges of possession of Schedule I CDS (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $1,700.

During the investigation at the Katie Lane residence, McCaleb reportedly admitted to having an alleged marijuana pipe in his pocket. A pill bottle containing suspected marijuana was found in his pocket, police say.

Webster Parish Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Bobby Igo Jr. says no other arrests have been made at this time regarding the theft of the dog; however, other arrests may be pending as the investigation continues.

“This individual told us that, and we have not confirmed any of it,” he said. “We’re going to send it to the DA (district attorney) for review, and if they say there was enough involvement to warrant an arrest, we’ll get one (a warrant) issued.”
