A Texas man was arrested May 11 after allegedly consuming two beers at a downtown Minden restaurant and leaving without paying, according to the Minden Police Department.
Around 1:30 PM, several officers eating lunch at a restaurant in the 500 block of Main Street were approached by a staff member who reported that a man had just exited without paying for his drinks. The staff member directed officers to the man outside the restaurant.
Officers made contact with the man, later identified as Mack Shearman, 42, of Waxahachie, Texas. According to police, Shearman was walking with poor balance and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. Officers stated that Shearman hesitated before identifying himself.
The employee informed officers that Shearman had consumed one Modelo and one Bud Light at the bar before leaving without paying. Both beers, valued at $10.13 total, were found empty at the bar where Shearman had been seated. The employee stated charges would be pursued on behalf of the business.
Shearman was arrested and charged with misdemeanor theft and disturbing the peace through public intoxication. He was later transported to Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center after failing to post bond.
All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
