DOYLINE — A routine traffic stop on LA Hwy. 527 Tuesday led to the arrest of a Doyline man after deputies discovered suspected illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia in his vehicle and on his person, according to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Dennis Booth, 68, of the 4800 block of Boothville Road, was taken into custody and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center under a $5,000 bond.
Sheriff Jason Parker said Lt. Chase Wimberly and Sgt. Josh McCormick initiated the stop after observing Booth’s vehicle crossing the center line of the highway multiple times. Upon approaching the vehicle, deputies saw several knives in the cab area and noticed Booth wearing additional knives on his belt.
Deputies reported spotting a plastic cigarette box and an eyeglass pouch concealed in Booth’s boots. After receiving permission to retrieve the items, they discovered a meth pipe in the eyeglass pouch and a bag containing suspected methamphetamine inside the cigarette box.
A further search of the vehicle reportedly turned up digital scales, suspected marijuana, and additional glass pipes inside a tool bag. Booth allegedly admitted the narcotics belonged to him.
